The Story, From My Perspective

We read your story with great interest. The thing that caught us was your statement that you took a plea deal. Quite frankly, we had never heard of something like that happening so quickly, so we checked for ourselves.

Stan was correct. He was arrested and plead out the very next day.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. Good Luck Stan, We wish you the best

Of Course, The Rules

Often, there are two sides to a story, and most of the time we only publish one of those side. We do on occasion, receive calls and email stating "that's not the way it happened".

With this in mind, welcome to our reader response section. We hope you'll find this forum useful, and see it as our attempt to be fair and balanced. And just so we have an understanding, we would like to make a few things clear, and of course, set out a few rules. So . . .

1. The material posted here is posted as we receive it. We do not edit the police or incident reports or the press releases we receive, and we do not edit the letters sent to us by our readers (except to remove profanity).

2. We do not endorse, condone the actions of the writers. We do, on occasion make an effort to verify your version of events. If you state "the charges were dropped", we will access the records and do a cursory check.

3. No foul language.

4. Do not slander anyone. Additionally racist remarks will not be tolerated.

Senior Prank Nearly Results In Charges Against 18 Graduates

18 graduates of Arnold High School narrowly escaped trespassing charges after a Senior Prank.

In addition to littering the campus with birdseed and thousands of pancakes and syrup, students also toilet papered campus trees.

This occurred around 4 a.m. Monday and was interrupted when students tried to break into one of the buildings, setting off an alarm, bringing the Panama City Beach police to the scene.

Principle Bland initially decided to press charges, but after many calls from angry parents, Principle Bland decided to drop the charges.

Frank McKeithen on contractors hiring illegals

Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen today addressed a question raised in the community after yesterday?s arrests of nearly a dozen illegal aliens at the Panama City Marina who allegedly used stolen social security numbers to obtain employment. Many have asked why the Sheriff did not arrest the contractors who hired the illegals to work.

“I agree the contractors hiring the illegals should be charged,” Sheriff McKeithen said. “We have been trying to enforce these laws for several years. We actually charged several contractors with hiring illegals only to have charges dropped.”

Sheriff McKeithen emphasized he has in the past sent letters to the Attorney General about this very issue only to be told that state laws concerning the hiring of illegal aliens are preempted by federal law which the BCSO could not enforce. The community has to know by now that if I could, I would,” Sheriff McKeithen said. “I?m doing my job. Someone else has to do theirs.”

Everitt Student Arrested Over Cell Phone

So, perhaps I jumped the gun on this post. A friend of ours teaches at the school, and witnessed the entire incident.

According to our teacher friend, this young girl is a problem child, nothing more than a female thug, and has caused problems the entire school year. Not only did she resist, but she spat on the officer and hit him with her balled fist.

In retrospect, I would say that the Officer showed great restraint on the charge.

Good Job Officer.

Guy Tunnel Announces He's Running

So, Guy Tunnel has announce he's running for County Commissioner in district 5, to take the place of his former employee, Jerry Girvin.

Personally, I think Guy has done enough damage, and fleeced our community for more than his share.

To elect him would be to put another "good old boy" into office. This is something Bay County can do without.

Allen Boyd Holds Out Hope?

So, against his constituents wishes, Allen Boyd votes for health care reform, which has a bill to privatized the student loan origination business, putting and additional 700 employees in the Panama City area in the unemployment line.

According to a statement from his office, he still holds out hope that Sallie Mae can continue to provide services, and keep their employees working. They are already in the unemployment line and ALLEN HOLD OUT HOPE?

Allen, what happened to representing the people of Northwest Florida? You have failed in your job, and come November, you will be terminated.

Just hold out hope. That will fix everything, won't it?

Dogs In Restaurants

Let me begin by saying the I really do love animals, but the new rulings that allow pets in restaurants is just about one of the craziest ideas I've seen in awhile. I just don't know what to say.

Hello people, these are animals. You need to leave them at home, where they belong. I don't want to go out for a pleasant evening, and have to share my space and experience with your dog. I don't want him sniffing on me, I don't want him around me sniffing the other dogs, I don't want his hair flying into my food when it is shedding and I definitely don't want him around if mother nature decides to do it's calling.

What are our politicians thinking?

I have a friend who has a couple of poodles that are "his children". I'm sure you'll see him at these places. All they do is yap, yap, yap when others are around. I like the guy otherwise, but his "relationship" with his mutts is out there. I also have a sister, whose hero is Paris Hilton, right down to the requisite little Chihuahua packed in the purse. I put them in the class of the idiot who drives down my road every day with 3 dogs in his lap. Hello people, these are animals. You are endangering other lives when you act and drive so irresponsibly.

Please respect the rest of us and leave your animals at home.

I Then Left The Scene To Search For Him.

At Approximately 0230Hrs On 9/21/09 I Drove By Sheryl And James' House Where I Saw That James Had Returned On Sheryl's Motorcycle. I Made Contact With James And Placed Him Under Arrest. James Immediately Began To State That He Did Nothing Wrong And Denied All Allegations Made Against Him. While Escorting James To My Patrol Vehicle, Sheryl Stated She Didn't Want Him To Go To Jail And Stated "This Is Not The Help He Needs." I Reminded Sheryl That She Gave A Sworn Taped Statement Where She Stated She Wished To Pursue Charges Against James For Domestic Battery. I Then Transported To The Bay County Jail Where He Was Booked And Processed.
